Skying

During a trip to Yosemite, I was heading toward the cabin where we’d be staying for the night and we had to go through a long tunnel. The lights gave the entire tunnel and all the cars driving through it a yellow tint, but we came out through the end, everything suddenly became blue. It felt like crossing a threshold to another place. Pit Pat came about because I had seen paintings of flying whales and it was during the drought warning so I entertained the idea of a nonsense world where the fish migrated to the skies. Not realistic, but the idea of sky fishing is still so enticing to me that it will probably come about again in another film.
